C.A.R.E.S. Volunteer Program
C.A.R.E.S. is a small community shelter that depends on our dedicated volunteers for daily operations, animal care, and special events. Their time and efforts are essential for providing care to our animals and facilities.
We welcome a diverse range of volunteers, from high school students to retirees. This includes individuals fulfilling court-ordered community service, students meeting service requirements, and anyone wanting to help animals. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, but younger individuals may volunteer if accompanied by a parent or guardian, subject to approval.
We need drivers to transport animals to and from spay and neuter appointments. If you have a morning free (usually Fridays from 6-8:30 am) or an afternoon (typically Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays from 2-4 pm), we would appreciate your help. You can assist once a month, once a week, or more often if available.
Our hardworking staff is always busy caring for animals, so any help with community fundraising is greatly appreciated and can really make a difference. Your support helps us continue our mission to assist those in need and improve the well-being of the animals we serve.
To begin volunteering with C.A.R.E.S., please fill out the form above and here [Sign-Up Genius] for a Volunteer Orientation to get started. You will still need to sign a release when you come in for the 1st [first] time.
COURT MANDATED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: We are a small shelter with limited capacity for court-mandated volunteer hours, so we kindly ask that you contact us in advance to schedule your hours. Please be sure to come in person to complete a Volunteer Application and attend an orientation. Please also note that walking dogs or playing with cats does not count toward community service hours. Court-mandated hours are completed in 4-hour shifts, and we request that you plan ahead—no last-minute requests will be accepted. We appreciate your understanding!
Thanks for your interest in being a C.A.R.E.S. volunteer!
