adopting an animal

Adoption fees are based on the age of the dog with high-interest animals having a higher adoption fee. The adoption fee includes the animal’s spay/neuter surgery, flea treatment(s), deworming(s), microchip (w/free registration), and first year up-to-date vaccinations. Burien, WA residents will also need to purchase a city pet license at the time of adoption. All adoptions come with a 30-day return policy (subject to a 20% return fee).

**Please note, scheduling an appointment to meet a cat does not mean the cat is on hold for you, and the cat may be adopted by someone else prior to your appointment. If you schedule an appointment and the cat is adopted by someone else, you will be promptly notified.

Dog Adoption fees are generally based on the age of the dog (high-interest animals may have a higher adoption fee).

Up to 6 months old: $450+
6mo to 2 years old: $350+

What else is included in the cost?

**Adoptions are done on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Scheduling an appointment to meet a dog does not hold the dog for you; it may be adopted before your appointment. If that happens, you will be notified.
